Our Stormwater Poland 2020 conference is under the honorary patronage of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
As they wrote in the letter: “The thematic scope of your Conference coincides with the activities of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. As an institution financing, inter alia, investments related to water management in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, as well as activities in the field of adaptation to climate change and environmental threats, we consider very important issues in the application of innovative technologies in rainwater management and in the broadly understood urban ecohydrology. I would like to convey that we include your Conference with the Honorary Patronage of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.”
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management was established in 1989, during the period of political changes, as the first public institution of this type in the world. While retaining its unique character on a global scale, the National Fund has continuously played an important role in the implementation of the national ecological policy for 30 years. Thanks to stable revenues, competent and experienced staff and developed forms of cooperation with beneficiaries, NFOŚiGW is the main link in the Polish system of financing environmental protection and water management, with the largest financial potential in this sphere.
Various pro-ecological investments are carried out with the participation of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, especially the largest, most important, also the most innovative, often of strategic importance for the country. To date, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has allocated over PLN 100 billion for environmental protection and water management, of which PLN 53 billion was own funds and the remaining amount was foreign funds, mainly from the European Union. In total, almost 39,000 were signed. contracts with beneficiaries. By consistently supporting Poland’s sustainable development, the National Fund offers loans, subsidies and other forms of co-financing of projects implemented, among others by local governments, enterprises, public entities, educational and research institutes, and social organizations.
In the public finance sector, NFOŚiGW is also the largest partner in Poland of international financial institutions in servicing foreign funds, especially EU funds, dedicated to ecology. The National Fund is an Implementing Institution for the priority axis I and II of the EU Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020, whose main goal is to support the economy in an efficient and friendly manner using the resources of the environment, for which EUR 4.8 billion has been allocated.
